CFATS Appendix A was published on November 20, 2007!

The US Department of Homeland Security published the CFATS "Chemicals of Interest List, Appendix A" on November 20, 2007. Facilities that have the listed chemicals at or above the threshold limits must complete and submit a Top-Screen Assessment to DHS within 60 calendar days of the publication of the Appendix in the Federal Register.

Appendix A became legally effective on the day it was published in the Federal Register. Any potentially affected stakeholder should rely only on the Federal Register version of Appendix A for legal purposes. The deadline in the Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS) interim final rule for submission of "Top Screens" required by 6 CFR § 27.210(a)(1)(i) will be 60 calendar days from the date of publication of Appendix A in the Federal Register, which was November 20, 2007.

Contact PAC for help with your Top Screens preparation.

Are You Really as Protected
as You Could Be?

How many hours do you estimate it takes for you to maintain your HazCom program? Do you feel those hours adequately protect your company and employees?

As the citation chart shows, frequent OSHA violations include lack of employee HazCom training and missing or inadequate MSDSs. The biggest issues in hazard communication are: no written program, MSDSs, and lack of training. OSHA checks for hazard communication violations at every inspection.

Would your job be more manageable, more time efficient if you were freed from the reporting process and MSDS clutter? If your answer is “Yes,” give the job to PAC.

PAC clients report that on-site HazCom training reduces reporting headaches, streamlines the process, saves time and money, and gives them peace of mind in knowing their company is less at risk for OSHA fines, employee injuries, insurance claims, and lost-work time.

PAC’s simplified labeling with hazard ratings provides more clarity and recognition of the degree of hazard of workplace chemicals.

In addition, PAC’s expert maintenance of their MSDS system frees them from MSDS disorder and confusion.

OSHA’s Big Four:
How PAC Can Help

The OSHA Hazard Communication Standard is composed of four key elements: Chemical Products Inventory, Material Safety Data Sheets, On-site Training, and Written Programs. PAC’s programs meet or exceed the requirements of all four. We will walk through your site and compile a list of all chemical products stored and used at your facility. For a sample Chemical Index with Hazard Rating click here.

On MSDS management, PAC will obtain the most current MSDS available for each of the chemical products in your inventory of workplace chemicals.

For hazard reports, we provide custom-tailored HMIS hazard rating reports for all the products and chemicals in your inventory. These make effective HazCom training tools and handy container labeling guides. For a sample Product Hazard Rating Report click here. Hazard reports are not an OSHA HazCom requirement, but are extremely beneficial. Information can be used in meeting other regulatory requirements, and for quick identification as to the degree of chemical product hazards.

Interactive HazCom training is conducted on-site. If needed, we compose your OSHA compliant, site-specific written HazCom program.
